Programme Officer, Women's Resilience and Participation
Organizational Context
UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and women's empowerment, working globally to accelerate progress and support Member States in setting standards and implementing laws and policies. In Bangladesh, UN Women supports the government in achieving gender equality and women's human rights, focusing on gender mainstreaming, preventing violence against women, promoting economic autonomy, and building resilience. The Cox's Bazar Sub-Office specifically addresses the needs of Rohingya refugee women and girls and host communities, ensuring their protection, resilience, and participation in humanitarian and development efforts.
Job Purpose
This role supports UN Women's Rohingya response program in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, focusing on enhancing women's resilience and participation. The Programme Officer will provide technical support for program design and implementation, ensuring quality assurance and alignment with global standards. Key contributions include strengthening results-based management, fostering partnerships with local women-led organizations and government counterparts, and promoting inclusive, gender-responsive service delivery. The position aims to empower Rohingya and host community women and girls, enabling their meaningful participation in decision-making processes and contributing to community safety, social cohesion, and long-term peacebuilding efforts.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for designing and implementing programs that enhance the resilience and participation of Rohingya and host community women. Ensure program quality through developing standards, procedures, and guidelines, and monitor progress to inform adaptive management. Support results-based programme management, including indicator tracking and partner capacity building for monitoring and financial compliance. Refine workplans and strategies to align with UN Women standards and donor commitments. Assist in coordinating with government counterparts and local authorities to promote inclusive service delivery and community resilience. Strengthen partnerships with women-led organizations and networks to foster inclusive engagement and women's leadership. Contribute to inter-agency coordination within relevant sectors to enhance coherence and quality of women-focused interventions. Draft reports, briefs, and success stories, and contribute to documenting lessons learned and best practices. Support gender analyses, assessments, and evaluations, and assist in organizing training and learning events for staff and partners.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in gender and development and/or humanitarian work. Experience in programme management/support is an asset. Experience working with governments, donors, UN agencies, or international development/humanitarian organizations is beneficial. Affinity with gender equality, women's empowerment, and the UN system is desirable.
