UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest provides essential HR, Finance, and IT services to UNICEF offices worldwide. The Payroll & Offboarding Section, a key part of GSSC, delivers high-quality HR services including payroll, separation benefits, and pension processing. The Section is committed to continuous improvement, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making, aiming to be a Centre of Excellence for efficient global service delivery and to support UNICEF's program results.
Job Purpose
The Human Resources Officer will support the Payroll & Offboarding Section by enhancing project coordination, decision support, and knowledge management. This role is crucial for monitoring key initiatives, coordinating project updates, preparing essential briefing materials, and tracking follow-up actions. The incumbent will also play a vital role in maintaining and improving the Section's knowledge base, ensuring all guidance, process documentation, and learning resources are accurate, accessible, and aligned with UNICEF standards. By contributing to these areas, the role directly supports improved service delivery, robust information management, and fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the Section.
Responsibilities
The Human Resources Officer will provide critical support to the Payroll & Offboarding Section in several key areas. This includes assisting the Section Chief in managing information flow, identifying priorities, summarizing documentation, and proposing follow-up actions for decision-making and project management. The role involves preparing briefing materials, presentations, and research for meetings and missions. Additionally, the officer will coordinate inputs for various documents, monitor project activities across workstreams, and support periodic project reviews. A significant responsibility is maintaining and updating the Section’s knowledge base, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with UNICEF policies. This involves identifying knowledge gaps, documenting changes, and developing user-friendly knowledge products like guides and process maps. The role also promotes knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in human resource management, planning and monitoring, or knowledge management and communications within an international organization or large corporation is required. Experience in project management, knowledge management, marketing, and web design is considered an asset. Fluency in English is mandatory.

Affinity with HR management, payroll processes, data science, communications, knowledge management, and volunteerism is desirable.
