Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF's Global Education Practice (GEP) in strengthening its digital communication and social media presence. The Social Media Associate will be responsible for planning, producing, and amplifying high-quality content across platforms like LinkedIn and X to advance UNICEF's education priorities. The position aims to increase engagement with key audiences and elevate the digital presence and thought leadership of the Global Director for Education. This assignment offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to global education advocacy while developing professional skills within a leading UN practice.
Responsibilities
The Social Media Associate will support the planning, drafting, scheduling, and publishing of engaging social media content for GEP's priority platforms (LinkedIn, X), ensuring alignment with UNICEF's brand and editorial standards. Responsibilities include maintaining an editorial calendar, supporting the Global Director for Education's social media presence, and developing on-brand visual and multimedia content. The role involves drafting compelling copy on key education themes, monitoring social media trends and conversations, and analyzing metrics to provide performance reports with recommendations. Coordination with internal and external communications colleagues, ensuring content accessibility and inclusivity, and supporting social media activities for events are also key duties. Contributing to the practice's social media capacity building is also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of experience in social media management, digital communications, marketing, or journalism is required. Experience producing content for professional platforms like LinkedIn and X, familiarity with social media analytics, and basic graphic or video content creation are considered assets. Interest in education, gender equality, and international development, along with prior experience in an international organization, is desirable.
