Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment supports the Climate and Sustainability workstream at the UNDP Global Centre, focusing on circularity, carbon economy, sustainability, and green transformation. The role is crucial for driving the transition towards sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon urban environments, addressing challenges like urbanization, climate change, and environmental degradation. The UN Volunteer will contribute to identifying, co-creating, and sharing innovative technological solutions for sustainable development, aiming to catalyze new insights, partnerships, and actions in UNDP-supported countries. The position leverages digital, data-driven, and innovation approaches to enable agile and adaptive responses to complex global issues.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the Climate and Sustainability Specialist in developing knowledge products, including reports, briefs, and frameworks on circularity, carbon economy, and air pollution, with context-specific recommendations. This includes identifying and documenting case studies and innovative practices for global dialogues and mapping key stakeholders in Singapore to leverage local expertise. The role involves supporting the design of carbon pricing instruments and circular economy principles, translating technical insights into accessible knowledge products for various partners, and fostering collaboration within the DAI Hub to align with innovation and sustainability agendas. Additionally, the UN Volunteer will assist in planning and executing workshops and events, supporting communication efforts, and coordinating with stakeholders.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 month of relevant experience is required. Demonstrated interest and/or experience in climate, sustainability, environmental protection, and development is essential. Previous volunteer experience or experience in a different cultural context (e.g., through studies, volunteer work, or internships) is highly regarded.
Skills
Key competencies include adaptability, flexibility, communication, and integrity. Expertise in project management, programme development, and strategy is also required.
