Organizational Context
The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in Ukraine supports national authorities in mine action coordination, quality management, and information management. This UN Volunteer assignment is part of a project funded by the Multi-Partner Trust Fund/Ukraine Community Recovery Fund (MPTF/UCRF), aimed at strengthening national mine action capacities. The volunteer will work with UNMAS in Kyiv, collaborating with national institutions, UN entities, and other stakeholders to enhance mine action efforts and national development.
Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer role supports the UNMAS Ukraine Programme, a project focused on enhancing national mine action capabilities through improved coordination, quality management, information management, and reporting. The incumbent will provide expert project support, reporting, quality assurance, and knowledge management services. Key responsibilities include transferring programme management skills to national staff and ensuring project activities align with UNMAS objectives and donor requirements. The assignment aims to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and overall mine action effectiveness in Ukraine, working closely with national authorities and international partners.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer Expert will lead the drafting, editing, and quality assurance of project reports, proposals, and briefing materials, ensuring compliance with UNMAS and donor standards while facilitating knowledge transfer to national staff. They will provide technical guidance and mentoring on reporting, information synthesis, and document management, developing improved reporting tools and processes. The role involves supporting results-based management by reviewing indicators and progress, advising on corrective actions, and coordinating the collection of lessons learned and best practices. The expert will manage project workplans, trackers, and risk registers, consolidate inputs from various stakeholders, and analyze complex information for reporting to senior management and donors. Responsibilities also include maintaining programme records, promoting volunteerism and inclusion, and completing UNV reporting requirements.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive professional experience in programme support, reporting, proposal development, programme management, or donor relations is required. Demonstrated experience in drafting and quality-assuring complex reports and proposals, strong analytical and coordination skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management tools are essential. Experience with humanitarian or mine action programmes, results-based management, and working with national authorities or UN entities is desirable.
