Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading intergovernmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration worldwide. With a presence in over 100 countries, IOM supports 174 member states in managing migration effectively. The organization provides services and advice to governments and migrants, focusing on orderly migration, international cooperation, practical solutions to migration challenges, and humanitarian assistance. IOM's work encompasses migration and development, facilitated migration, migration regulation, and forced migration, operating in close collaboration with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners.
Job Purpose
The IOM Mexico Communications Unit seeks to strengthen its capacity by recruiting two online volunteers with expertise in graphic design, editorial design, and digital content adaptation. These volunteers will remotely support the development of visual, editorial, and digital materials for various campaigns, social media, events, reports, and institutional products. The assignment aims to enhance the reach and impact of IOM Mexico's communication efforts by producing engaging and informative content tailored for different platforms and audiences, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting humane migration.
Responsibilities
The assignment involves two distinct volunteer roles. The Editorial Design Volunteer will be responsible for laying out the "Report on the Dynamics of Women Migrant Workers," creating two layouts or infographics for community adaptation plans for an environmental project, designing a flowchart for the Legal Unit, making adjustments to brochures and leaflets for five state educational integration routes, and performing final corrections on a guide for returned persons. The Digital Content Design Volunteer will design 15 flyers for IOM Mexico events, prepare 6 social media cards and web resources for a guide for returned persons, adjust digital assets for two campaigns ("Más Allá de las Fronteras" and "Retornar es tu decisión"), and create 10 social media cards to promote five state educational integration routes and informational materials for migrants.
Work Experience
Interest in digital communication, social media, basic metrics analysis, and development communication. Ability to record information accurately and consistently. Basic knowledge of social media platforms and online office tools. Desirable: previous experience with web content management systems, particularly Drupal. Attention to detail, responsibility, clear communication, and results-oriented remote work capability.
