These materials will enhance UNICEF's visibility and engagement with policymakers, donors, partners, and the public, ultimately supporting the realization of children's rights as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Responsibilities

The role involves writing, editing, and finalizing concise text for various documents, ensuring sensitive portrayal of individuals and situations. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth interviews with beneficiaries and stakeholders, and coordinating with photographers for compelling captions. The position requires reviewing and consolidating material for knowledge products, ensuring clarity and thematic consistency. Additionally, the role entails creating digital content such as fact sheets and web pages, adhering to the UNICEF style guide, and drafting website content. Availability for feedback and multiple editing rounds is essential.

Work Experience

Experience in writing for national or international organizations is desirable. Copy editing experience is also beneficial. Demonstrable experience and high-quality work meeting international standards are expected. Experience in the social development sector is a plus. Proficiency in conducting research and interviews for communication materials is necessary, along with the ability to analyze, plan, and communicate effectively in writing.

Skills

Required skills include fluent English proficiency and a working knowledge of Portuguese. The ability to write, edit, and finalize crisp, concise text is crucial. Strong research and interviewing skills are needed to gather information for communication materials. Effective analytical, planning, and written communication abilities are essential.
