The World Food Programme (WFP) is the UN's frontline agency against global hunger and the largest, longest-standing humanitarian agency in Benin. WFP's current activities include nutrition-sensitive school feeding, institutional capacity building, malnutrition treatment and prevention, and asset creation/livelihood support. Job Purpose
The WFP seeks a Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Officer to develop and strengthen partnerships and maximize resource mobilization for its programs in Benin. Reporting to the Country Director and collaborating with program, external relations, M&E, and communications teams, this role involves gathering and analyzing information to foster new and existing collaborations. The officer will contribute to a partnership portfolio, profile partners, conduct outreach, and optimize resources and political/technical support. Data utilization for well-documented ideas to expand partner support and identify new ones will be key, enhancing WFP's impact and diversifying its resource base.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Country Director and in close collaboration with program, external relations, M&E, and communications colleagues, the incumbent will gather, analyze, and communicate information to develop new and existing partnerships and maximize mobilized resources to support WFP programs. Key responsibilities include implementing work plans to identify, develop, and strengthen quality partnerships, actively contributing to the partnership portfolio through profiling and outreach, and optimizing resources and political/technical support. The role involves using data to present well-documented ideas for expanding partner support and identifying new partners, enhancing WFP's impact and diversifying its resource base. The officer will solicit operational updates from colleagues to inform partners about WFP's programmatic offerings, draft high-quality briefing notes, and proactively highlight strategic issues to senior management. They will collect and present internal/external data using key information systems to support WFP's positioning with national governments and regional/international institutions, influencing policy agendas. Contributing to partnership strategies, drafting proposals and reports, and educating donors on WFP's strategy, design, relevance, and impact are also crucial. The role includes representing WFP in international meetings, supporting management in preparing strategic agreements, and contributing to preparedness actions with technical recommendations and risk monitoring.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in resource mobilization, partnership coordination, and communication. Experience in supporting projects and operational activities that maintain and develop partnerships with donors and host governments. Experience in data collection, assisting in resource analysis, and collaborating on timely briefs and donor reports. Specific experience/knowledge in aid and technical assistance is desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, client orientation, and teamwork ability are required. Familiarity with the UN system and UN Country Teams is beneficial. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is also required.
