Job Purpose
The Sustainable Energy Associate will provide crucial technical support to UNDP's Climate Change, Water, Energy, and Environment (CCWEE) Portfolio. This involves assisting in the development of project pipelines, conducting diagnostics, and integrating policies to ensure interventions are evidence-based and investment-ready. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant climate and energy outcomes in a challenging environment, fostering inclusive partnerships and safeguards. It requires a blend of technical expertise, policy engagement, stakeholder coordination, and knowledge management to advance sustainable energy solutions that address global commitments and local resilience needs.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the CCWEE Pillar's overall delivery, reporting technically to the Pillar Team Leader. Key responsibilities include providing technical support for energy initiatives, focusing on energy transition and efficiency programs, and gathering data for renewable energy, energy efficiency, cooling, and demand-side management projects. The role involves participating in diagnostics and assessments in fragile contexts, considering security and supply chain risks. Additionally, the Associate will assist in aligning interventions with national climate commitments (NDCs), contribute to policy analysis on energy transition, and support the integration of energy priorities into national planning. Project design, implementation support, and liaising with regional teams for financing opportunities are also key. Facilitating coordination with national stakeholders, supporting technical meetings, and strengthening partnerships are essential. The role also includes supporting monitoring, reporting, knowledge management, and safeguarding project implementation, while promoting gender equality, social inclusion, digitalization, and volunteerism.
Work Experience
