Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer will support the Chief Integrated Warehouse (IW) by managing inbound shipments, advising on resource requirements, and coordinating logistics operations. This role involves tracking contracts and purchase orders, liaising with transport units for cargo movement, and ensuring efficient utilization of transport resources. The officer will analyze resource needs, prepare warehouses for incoming goods, and provide regular reports on supply chain operations, including inventory levels and distribution plans. A key aspect is maintaining accurate asset transaction history and performing inventory performance analyses to ensure accountability and adherence to organizational standards.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer is responsible for monitoring inbound shipments and advising Integrated Warehouses on manpower, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and space utilization. They will track contracts and Purchase Orders (POs) in coordination with Procurement to plan goods receipts. Daily liaison with MOVCON and the Transport Unit is required for mission cargo movements, ensuring timely delivery and optimal transport resource utilization. The role involves analyzing resource requirements, including MHE and Individual Contractors, and advising on warehouse preparation for incoming goods. Regular reporting on supply chain operations, inventory status, and distribution is essential. The officer will maintain asset transaction history using tools like SAP/UMOJA and Business Intelligence, conduct inventory performance analyses, and monitor asset control procedures for accountability. They will verify data accuracy in asset control and inventory management systems, identify inventory discrepancies, and resolve issues with asset holders. Capacity development of national staff and counterparts through coaching and training is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
Requires at least three years of relevant professional experience in property management, warehousing, inventory management and control systems, or Receipts and Inspections. Practical experience in the private sector or governmental organizations is beneficial. Knowledge of UN field asset management policies and procedures is desirable.
