Job Purpose
The Fuel Assistant will support the Chief Fuel Unit in managing fuel operations within MONUSCO. This role involves ensuring the accurate receipt, issuance, and recording of fuel products for both ground and aviation purposes. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining precise stock levels, compiling balance sheets, and adhering to strict safety and quality control procedures. Additionally, the position requires monitoring fuel consumption, reporting anomalies, and coordinating with vendors for fuel procurement. The role also includes maintaining financial records related to fuel transactions and contributing to data management for reporting and analysis, ensuring efficient and compliant fuel supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
The Fuel Assistant will operate fuel pump/dispenser equipment, manage the receipt and issuance of fuel products, and maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records. Responsibilities include measuring and reporting fuel stock levels in tanks and trucks, compiling fuel balance sheets, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures during refueling operations. The role requires issuing fuel only to authorized personnel and equipment, reporting any fuel consumption anomalies, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for fuel quality control. Daily testing of aviation and ground fuels according to international standards is essential, along with maintaining computerized records of quality control tests and preparing periodic reports. The assistant will also refuel aircraft as per order documents, monitor aviation fuel stock levels, and coordinate the receipt and issuance of Petroleum Oils and Lubricants (POL) from vendors. Reviewing and maintaining invoice and accounts records, supervising data entry into databases, and actively engaging in capacity development of national staff through coaching and training are also key duties. Any other related tasks may be assigned.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of experience in fuel handling procedures, including aviation fuel, operation of field fuel installations, and fuel contract administration. Experience in petroleum supply chain operations is mandatory. Experience in UN peacekeeping or other field operations is considered desirable.
