Job Purpose

This role supports the development of innovative solutions and applications to enhance UN operations. Specifically, the online volunteer will contribute to the ongoing project of building an app for UN delegates. This involves providing hands-on support to an existing prototype, with tasks spanning app and software development. The objective is to refine and advance the application, ensuring it meets user needs and contributes to the UN's digital transformation efforts. The role is crucial for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of delegate services through technological innovation.

Responsibilities

The Fullstack Development Support role involves contributing to the development of a new app prototype for UN delegates. Key responsibilities include code implementation for various tasks such as integrating a design system, enhancing iOS/Android support, resolving data quality issues, and addressing feedback from user testing. This role is part of a larger project with distinct tasks for project management, UI/UX design, and user testing. The volunteer will work remotely, contributing to specific code-based deliverables within the app development lifecycle. Collaboration with other volunteers and the UN focal point is expected to ensure project progress and successful outcomes.

Work Experience

Experience requirements vary by specific role. For Fullstack Development Support, a strong working knowledge of React and/or Python is required. Experience in app development or with the Expo framework is desirable. Familiarity with UN, multilateral, or public-sector contexts is also desirable for all roles.
