Programme Officer (Field Services)
Organizational Context

UNICEF India operates nationwide, with the Chief of Field Services in New Delhi overseeing 13 state/field offices. This role supports the Chief of Field Services in enhancing knowledge management, information sharing, coordination, and strategic direction for field operations and partnerships across the country.
Job Purpose
The National UN Volunteer Programme Officer will support the Chief of Field Services in New Delhi to strengthen the effectiveness of UNICEF's field operations across India. This involves enhancing knowledge management systems, improving information sharing between field offices and central sections, and coordinating activities between diverse teams. The role will contribute to the preparation of situation analyses and programme documents, monitor action trackers, provide oversight on budgets and programmes, and support the strategic direction of partnerships and field service priorities. The assignment also includes supporting key planning processes and reporting mechanisms to ensure efficient and quality delivery of UNICEF's mandate.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Field Services, the UN Volunteer will coordinate and monitor actions from key management bodies. Responsibilities include strengthening knowledge management through data collection, analysis, and reporting; facilitating information exchange and document sharing between field offices and sections; and supporting programme development by contributing to situation analyses and workplans. The role involves maintaining and updating action trackers for field offices, supporting routine progress monitoring, and following up on agreed actions. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in planning and oversight processes, including travel plans, mid-year and end-year reporting, and ensuring coherence in state-level presentations. Support will also be provided for field office monitoring, sector reviews, and reporting on results, including the quality assurance of reporting tools. Participation in official meetings and missions, and providing support during staff absences, are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required in areas such as programme management, external relations, public affairs, administration, international development cooperation, knowledge management, planning, monitoring, or reporting. Experience with the UN or similar international organizations is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong drafting, coordination, and interpersonal skills are essential.
