Organizational Context
The United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Tunisia coordinates UN system activities, aligning them with national priorities and the 2030 Agenda. It advocates for the UN Secretary-General and engages with diverse stakeholders to promote Sustainable Development Goals. The UN Information Centre (UNIC) within RCO promotes UN values and activities, enhances public understanding, and supports strategic communication, ensuring a coherent UN system image through joint communication efforts.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will be assigned to the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Tunisia, supporting the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO). The role focuses on promoting UN values, priorities, and activities, and enhancing public understanding of the UN's role. The volunteer will create innovative digital content, including multimedia, for the UN website and social media, covering events and producing reports and infographics. A key aspect involves leveraging AI tools for creative communication and developing engaging formats for youth audiences. This position is funded by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia, aiming to enhance youth and disability inclusion.
Responsibilities
Under the Information Officer's supervision, the UN Volunteer will support UN Tunisia's communication activities. Key responsibilities include:
Digital Communication & Content Creation: Assist in implementing the digital communication strategy, plan content for web and social media, and create accessible digital content (Reels, videos, infographics, visuals). Write articles, news, testimonials, and multimedia content for digital platforms.
Activity & Event Coverage: Cover UN Tunisia events, including those involving the Resident Coordinator, by taking photos and videos, collecting testimonials, and preparing summary content. Support the organization and visibility of awareness campaigns and institutional events, particularly for youth.
Communication Material Design: Design digital and print communication materials (banners, fact sheets, presentations, visual elements for reports) adhering to UN visual identity guidelines.
Content Management & Performance Monitoring: Monitor digital platform performance and social media trends to identify innovative formats for youth. Organize, caption, and archive all produced content, respecting consent and data protection rules.
Innovation & Responsible Digital Tool Use: Responsibly use AI tools for content ideation, writing, translation, and optimization, ensuring information accuracy and ethical standards.
Cross-cutting Support: Perform other institutional, digital, or event communication tasks as assigned to enhance UN visibility in Tunisia.
Work Experience
Minimum 1 month of experience required, with 1 year of relevant experience preferred. This includes social media management, graphic design, and video editing. Strong Arabic and French writing skills are essential; English is an asset. Proficiency in design and video editing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Canva, CupCut, Illustrator) and AI tools is expected. Experience in media, communication agencies, or NGOs is a plus. A portfolio of multimedia content is required.
