Job Purpose
This role supports the EU-UNDP GREAT Project in The Gambia by ensuring the quality and clarity of seven key reports for the Gambia Association of Local Government Authorities (GALGA). The assignment aims to enhance the project's results-based reporting and knowledge management by editing, proofreading, and formatting documents such as assessment reports, policy documents, and management manuals. The volunteer's contribution will ensure these reports are accurate, coherent, and accessible, thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and effective partnerships, directly contributing to SDG 16 and SDG 17.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for editing and proofreading seven specific reports for GALGA, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in language, tone, and style. This includes correcting spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors while preserving the integrity of technical content. The volunteer must ensure reports are concise and reader-friendly, using appropriate editing tools and providing tracked changes and clean versions for quality assurance. The role requires researching suitable terminology and adhering to high-quality standards throughout the editing process. All necessary background materials will be provided.
Work Experience
Demonstrated experience in editing and proofreading reports, particularly in communication, development, or governance sectors, is essential. Proficiency in using editing and proofreading tools, including tracked changes, is required. Experience with donor-funded programs is desirable.
Skills
Excellent command of written English, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistency in tone and style are crucial. Proficiency in editing and proofreading tools and the capacity to work with tracked changes are necessary. The role requires clear communication and the ability to produce accessible, high-quality written content.
