Organizational Context
The Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is a women's rights NGO focused on promoting the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by women and girls for gender equality and sustainable development. Operating in Uganda, WOUGNET addresses challenges like limited internet access and digital literacy gaps. The organization aims to create an inclusive society where women can leverage ICTs for development, integrating them with traditional communication methods. A new logo is needed to strengthen WOUGNET's brand as a Centre of Excellence.
Job Purpose
This role supports WOUGNET's mission by designing a new, forward-looking organizational logo. The purpose is to enhance the organization's visibility and strengthen its brand as a Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality, Digital Innovation, and Technology. The assignment is critical given Uganda's digital landscape and global trends in AI and digital economies, which can exacerbate exclusion. The volunteer's contribution will help WOUGNET effectively communicate its vision and values, ensuring women are not left behind in the digital transformation. The new logo will be a key component of a broader communications strategy.
Responsibilities
The UNV Online Volunteer will design a new organizational logo under the supervision of the Communications/Programs Team. Key responsibilities include reviewing provided background information on WOUGNET's mission, values, and target audiences. The volunteer will develop three distinct logo concepts that embody gender equality, empowerment, innovation, and digital inclusion. Following organizational feedback, the selected concept will be refined. The final output will include the approved logo in multiple formats (e.g., PNG, JPG, SVG, AI, PSD) suitable for both digital and print use, along with basic brand guidance on logo usage, including color codes, fonts, and scaling.
Work Experience
Required experience includes strong graphic design and visual branding skills. Experience in logo design for NGOs, social impact, or development organizations is considered an asset. The candidate must demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to translate concepts into a visual identity.
Skills
Key skills include graphic design, visual branding, and proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop). The volunteer must possess creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to translate organizational concepts into a compelling visual identity. A commitment to Gender Equality is essential. Fluency in English is required.
