Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support the WHO Ethiopia Strategic Communication Team by producing high-quality multimedia content to enhance the visibility of WHO's programmes, interventions, and partnerships. This role is crucial for documenting and communicating WHO's work in areas such as health system strengthening, disease prevention, emergency response, and health promotion. The volunteer's contributions will aid in raising public awareness, supporting advocacy efforts, and managing institutional knowledge through compelling visual storytelling and effective digital asset management, thereby strengthening WHO's communication impact in Ethiopia.
Responsibilities
Capture, produce, and edit high-quality photography, videography, and audio recordings to document WHO-supported programmes, emergencies, and activities across Ethiopia. Design various communication materials, including graphics, infographics, reports, and social media assets, adhering to WHO's corporate branding. Edit documentaries, promotional videos, and other multimedia products for diverse digital platforms and events. Maintain a secure digital archive of all multimedia assets, ensuring proper cataloguing, metadata management, and long-term preservation. Support communication strategies, advocacy, and health promotion initiatives through timely multimedia production. Develop and publish multimedia content for WHO's website and social media channels. Document emergency preparedness and response activities with visual communication products. Provide multimedia services to WHO programmes, partners, and external stakeholders. Innovate multimedia production by applying new technologies and ensuring compliance with WHO standards.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in photography, videography, multimedia production, and graphic design. Experience producing content for digital platforms and social media is necessary. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications or equivalent software is required. Experience with professional camera and audio equipment operation is essential. Experience with WHO/UN or international NGOs is a plus. Drone photography/videography experience is an asset.
Skills
Strong skills in photography, videography, graphic design, and visual storytelling. Proficiency in multimedia production software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud). Experience in digital asset management and archiving. Creativity, professionalism, planning, and organizational skills. Adaptability, flexibility, and sound judgment are also important.
