Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF South Africa's extensive programs focused on child rights, adolescent development, education, health, child protection, and social inclusion. The assignment aims to strengthen programme administration, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and knowledge management, particularly within the Youth Theme Group and inter-agency coordination mechanisms. The UN Volunteer will contribute to the effective implementation of work plans and the timely delivery of programme outputs. This position offers valuable exposure to programme management, youth development, inter-agency collaboration, and partnership development, fostering practical competencies through structured mentoring and learning.
Responsibilities
The Digital Engagement and Participation Associate will support programme coordination and implementation by assisting with activities, meetings, and field missions, ensuring logistical and administrative support, and contributing to work plan execution. Responsibilities include conducting research and basic data analysis on child rights and youth development, compiling information, and preparing technical documents. The role involves supporting monitoring and reporting by maintaining activity trackers and contributing to programme reports. Knowledge management includes organizing documentation, documenting lessons learned, and maintaining records of coordination activities. Stakeholder engagement involves coordinating with various organizations and supporting partnership events. Communication support includes compiling information for internal updates and preparing presentations. The associate will also provide general administrative support for programme operations and specific support for the U-Report platform, including its rollout, management, content development, performance monitoring, and data reporting to enhance child and youth participation in education.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, 1 year of relevant experience is desirable in areas such as development programmes, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, reporting, knowledge management, inter-agency coordination, research, policy analysis, or working with children and youth. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and skills in project administration, report writing, communication, planning, organization, and research are beneficial.
