In Venezuela, OCHA manages the "Línea de Contacto," an inter-agency mechanism enabling affected populations to seek information and provide feedback on the humanitarian response. This online volunteering opportunity supports OCHA's mission by enhancing communication with those in need.

Job Purpose

This online volunteer will redesign and update the visual identity and materials for the UN's "Línea de Contacto" in Venezuela. The goal is to create a unified, visually appealing, and UN-compliant communication suite that enhances accessibility and clarity for affected populations seeking humanitarian assistance. The volunteer will adapt designs across various formats, ensuring consistency and effectiveness. This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to humanitarian accountability, improve public communication, and develop professional design skills within a UN context.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support OCHA Venezuela in updating the visual identity and comprehensively redesigning the materials for the UN's "Línea de Contacto." Key tasks include proposing a unified, attractive visual route compliant with UN Venezuela's graphic guidelines. The volunteer will adapt the approved design to eight specific products: a unified design for posters, banners, and flyers; stickers; cards; a two-page flyer; a social media post template; and a horizontal banner. Collaboration with OCHA Venezuela's Public Information Unit is expected for feedback and revisions. Final deliverables include editable source files, high-resolution print-ready PDFs, and digital versions where applicable. A brief guide on colors, typography, and application criteria will also be provided to ensure consistency. The volunteer will gain experience in humanitarian communication design and contribute to accessible, inclusive communication for affected populations.

Work Experience

Demonstrable experience in graphic design, visual communication, or art direction, supported by a portfolio of print and digital work. Ability to translate complex content into clear visual messages, establish information hierarchies, design for various reading distances, and adapt graphics for small, editorial, and large-scale formats. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, or equivalent professional tools, is required for preparing editable files and final artwork for print. Experience in institutional, social, or humanitarian communication, accessible design, and preparing materials for diverse communities is desirable.

Skills

Graphic design, visual communication, art direction, ability to synthesize complex information into clear visuals, information hierarchy design, adaptability to different formats and scales, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, or equivalent tools, file preparation for print and digital media. Desirable skills include experience in humanitarian communication, accessible design, and working with diverse communities.
