Job Purpose
The Information and Data Management Associate will support UNHCR's protection mandate and inter-agency coordination efforts within the Protection Working Group (PWG) and Gender Theme Group (GTG) in South Africa. Responsibilities
The Information and Data Management Associate will support programme coordination and implementation by assisting with information and data management processes for planning, coordination, and service delivery. This includes coordinating data collection, maintaining operational information systems, and supporting programme teams. The role involves supporting UNCT internal coordination mechanisms by assisting with PWG and GTG meetings, preparing documentation, and tracking action points to foster information sharing and collaboration. The associate will conduct research, data collection, and basic analysis, validating and organizing data for evidence-based planning, and preparing statistical summaries and dashboards. Monitoring, reporting, and results tracking will involve maintaining activity trackers, compiling operational information, and contributing to programme and coordination reports. Additionally, the role supports knowledge management by organizing documentation and information resources, and stakeholder engagement by assisting in coordinating interactions with government institutions, UN agencies, and partners. General administrative support for programme operations is also required.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, one year of relevant experience is desirable. This includes demonstrated interest or experience in information and data management, data collection, analysis, and reporting, humanitarian assistance, protection, migration, monitoring, evaluation, knowledge management, or inter-agency coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams), data analysis and visualization, and database/information management is also beneficial.
