Organizational Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes peace and development globally through volunteerism, partnering with UN entities, governments, and civil society. The UNV Multi-Country Field Unit for the Maghreb oversees operations in Algeria, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia. In Tunisia, UNV, supported by the Swiss Embassy, is implementing an initiative focused on youth professional integration and disability inclusion via volunteerism, aligning with the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY2026).
Job Purpose
This UN Associate Volunteer assignment in Tunisia aims to support an innovative initiative promoting youth professional integration and disability inclusion through volunteerism, funded by the Embassy of Switzerland. The role will significantly contribute to communication and knowledge management efforts, enhancing the visibility of young volunteers' contributions. Key objectives include capturing evidence, lessons learned, and good practices from the SDC-UNV partnership. The volunteer will document, promote, and amplify the impact of young UN Volunteers, contributing to the goals of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY2026) and strengthening the SDC-UNV partnership.
Responsibilities
The UN Associate Volunteer will support strategic communications and visibility by collecting stories and testimonials from young volunteers, preparing social media content, and assisting with joint activities for International Volunteer Day and IVY2026. Responsibilities include maintaining a repository of communication assets and supporting other visibility initiatives. In knowledge management, the volunteer will coordinate information collection, compile evidence and lessons learned, conduct interviews with stakeholders, support analysis of results, and assist in drafting knowledge products. The role also involves supporting the capitalization of the SDC-UNV initiative by contributing to a comprehensive document detailing achievements, lessons learned, good practices, innovations, and recommendations, and assisting in preparing dissemination materials.
Work Experience
The position requires up to one year of professional experience in communication, knowledge management, project support, research, or a related area. Essential skills include excellent writing and editing, strong analytical abilities, interview conducting, report preparation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with digital communication and social media is an asset, while photography, graphic design, or video editing experience is desirable. Strong organizational skills and a collaborative spirit are also important.
