Job Purpose
This role supports the UNV Spotlight Storytelling Campaign in Malawi, a joint initiative by UNDP Malawi and the UNV programme. The campaign aims to document and showcase the impactful contributions of UN Volunteers to sustainable development and national progress. The Online Volunteer will transform raw footage into compelling short-form videos, essential for advocacy, outreach, and social media engagement. These videos will highlight volunteer stories, achievements, and their impact across various development sectors, contributing to the campaign's goal of raising awareness and celebrating volunteerism.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the UNDP Malawi Communications Team, the Online Volunteer will edit short video clips featuring UN Volunteers and development initiatives. Key duties include producing engaging 30-60 second videos optimized for social media, and developing volunteer spotlight videos that showcase personal journeys and community impact. The role involves adding subtitles, captions, transitions, and audio enhancements, ensuring all videos adhere to UNDP and UNV visual identity and communication standards. The volunteer will also create platform-specific formats for various social media channels, organize and archive final outputs, and support the creation of reusable video templates for ongoing storytelling efforts.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a proven background in video editing and digital storytelling. Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro is essential. A strong understanding of social media content creation, subtitling, audio editing, and visual storytelling is also necessary.
