The UN Security Management System (UNSMS) aims to enable UN organizations, including UNDP, to operate within acceptable security risk levels.

Job Purpose

This assignment supports the ongoing security risk management process to facilitate the delivery of UNDP programmes in the region. The Online Volunteer will contribute by producing comprehensive daily reports on geopolitical, security, and safety developments sourced from open-media outlets in Western Europe. The role involves gathering and synthesizing information to provide timely updates, ensuring UNDP can operate effectively while managing potential risks. The assignment is remote, with no fixed start date, and requires prompt commencement upon selection.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will support the UNDP Security Office in Istanbul by monitoring open-media sources in Western Europe and contributing to daily reports on geopolitical, security, and safety news. Key duties include compiling news reports, providing brief summaries for regional monitoring, and submitting reports Monday to Friday by 12 PM GMT+3. Reports must cover significant regional events. The volunteer will also participate in bi-weekly feedback sessions with the supervisor to discuss progress and receive guidance. Additionally, the role requires utilizing local open-media sources in local languages, ensuring information accuracy and credibility, and demonstrating strong research and analytical skills to synthesize information into concise, logical reports.

Work Experience

Knowledge of other Western European languages is considered an asset.
