Data Enumerators- Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM)

NUNV-A
Organizational Context
IOM Kyrgyzstan aims to ensure safe, orderly, and beneficial migration, strengthening governance, protecting migrant rights, supporting labor mobility, and responding to humanitarian needs. This UN Volunteer assignment supports the Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM), established in 2022, which monitors displacement and population mobility across Kyrgyzstan. Funded by the EU and SDC, the MTM programme collects data to enhance understanding of human mobility trends, needs, and vulnerabilities within, to, and from the country.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support the implementation of the Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) in Kyrgyzstan, a system adapted from IOM's Global Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) methodology. The MTM tracks and monitors population mobility and displacement, systematically capturing and disseminating information to understand the movements and evolving needs of various mobile populations. Through data collection activities funded by the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the assignment aims to significantly enhance the understanding of human mobility dynamics, trends, needs, and vulnerabilities within Kyrgyzstan and its migration corridors.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the IOM Programme Coordinator and MTM Project Assistant, Data Enumerators will conduct Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with community leaders, religious figures, diaspora representatives, and returned migrants. They will ensure data accuracy and completeness, conduct direct observations, and perform follow-up interviews as needed. Responsibilities include obtaining written consent for photos, developing fieldwork plans, coordinating daily schedules with supervisors, and preparing necessary equipment. Enumerators must ensure compliance with IOM guidelines and code of conduct, maintaining data confidentiality and respecting individual rights. They will participate in training, establish good relationships with community focal points, validate information from multiple sources, keep detailed records of daily activities, document field challenges, and submit completed survey forms via KOBO, ensuring data is correctly uploaded.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 month of experience is required, with at least 1 year of relevant experience in conducting community and household assessments and surveys. Knowledge of the relationship between migration and development is essential. Experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is considered an advantage.
Skills
The role requires strong adherence to IOM's core competencies: inclusion and respect for diversity, integrity and transparency, and professionalism. Key behavioral indicators include teamwork, delivering results, managing and sharing knowledge, accountability, and effective communication. Specific expertise areas include communication, advocacy, public information, and community development.
