Job Purpose
This role supports the UN Women Japan Liaison Office (JLO) in advancing gender equality and women's empowerment. The Associate will coordinate translation projects, manage youth engagement initiatives with private sector partners, and act as a communication focal point for the Unstereotype Japan chapter. The position also involves supporting the onboarding of new private sector partners, compiling knowledge products, assisting with executive missions, and developing communication materials. The role contributes to JLO's advocacy efforts and online presence, ultimately supporting UN Women's mission in Japan.
Responsibilities
The Coordination and Communication Associate will coordinate the translation of UN Women highlights, manage youth engagement initiatives with private sector partners, and serve as the communication focal point for the Unstereotype Japan chapter. Responsibilities include supporting the coordination and onboarding of private sector companies for advocacy initiatives like the Unstereotype Alliance, and assisting with the translation and compilation of knowledge products on Women, Peace and Security. The role also involves providing input for executive missions, developing and disseminating briefing materials, presentations, and press releases, and supporting the JLO's web presence, including website migration. The Associate will assist the Director in communication and advocacy activities.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in areas like journalism, public relations, advocacy, marketing, or digital communications, with a focus on gender issues being ideal. Experience in project coordination, knowledge product generation, and familiarity with the UN system are beneficial. Skills in social media management, website updates, and Microsoft Office are necessary. Proficiency in graphic design tools is an asset.
