Organizational Context
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is the lead UN agency dedicated to a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Operating in approximately 150 countries, UNFPA acts as a catalyst for progress. The Asia-Pacific region faces high rates of violence against women (VAW). To address persistent gaps in data literacy, utilization, and integration, UNFPA APRO, in partnership with DFAT, is launching the kNOwVAWdata initiative's third phase, focusing on building comprehensive VAW data ecosystems and driving policy impact.
Job Purpose
This role supports the kNOwVAWdata initiative, Phase III, aimed at bridging gaps in VAW data literacy, utilization, and integration across the Asia-Pacific region. The specialist will contribute to building comprehensive VAW data ecosystems and ensuring robust data utilization for policy and programming impact. Key contributions include managing regional knowledge hubs, facilitating peer learning, ensuring high-quality reporting, and nurturing the kNOwVAWdata network. The initiative operates across four pillars: Strengthening Capacity and Networks, Building Integrated Data Systems, Advancing Measurement, and Strategic Partnerships. The specialist will play a vital role in the Regional Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices team, leading efforts in data and research knowledge management, donor reporting, and fostering a vibrant Community of Practice.

They will plan, organize, and document regional learning webinars and peer exchanges. Additionally, the role involves leading the drafting and review of donor reports for DFAT and other committees, researching and writing impact stories, and supporting the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned from VAW prevalence surveys and data system changes. The role also encourages integrating the UN Volunteers programme mandate and promoting voluntary action.
