Job Purpose

This assignment supports UNICEF's Global Program Division (GPD) Education Centre of Excellence (CoE) in enhancing knowledge management, evidence generation, and learning related to the inclusion of refugee, displaced, and migrant children and adolescents in education systems. The role specifically focuses on learning continuity, access, progression, and educational inclusion, with linkages to countries within the PROSPECTS Partnership. It also involves coordination with youth engagement components of PROSPECTS. This UN Volunteer opportunity is part of the Youth on the Move UNV programme, designed for refugee, displaced, and migrant youth aged 20-32 facing learning-to-earning barriers, offering a 16-month paid volunteer experience.

Responsibilities

The UN Volunteer will support knowledge management, learning, and evidence related to education for children on the move. This includes developing and maintaining a repository of best practices, tools, and policies; coordinating with UNICEF country offices to gather lessons learned on refugee and displaced children's inclusion; and assisting in the development of knowledge products like case studies, blogs, and newsletters. The role also involves supporting the dissemination of UNICEF guidance and evidence, and contributing to global advocacy milestones. Additionally, the volunteer will support evidence generation and research by conducting literature reviews and desk research on educational inclusion, mapping barriers and enablers for displaced and migrant children, and contributing to country profiles and thematic analyses on refugee inclusion and learning continuity.

Work Experience

A minimum of 1 month of required experience and 1 year of relevant experience is needed. This includes at least one year of demonstrated experience as a volunteer or in community engagement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, email, and internet is essential. The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, be culturally and socially sensitive, and able to work inclusively and collaboratively. Self-motivation and the ability to adapt professionally in a challenging, multicultural environment are also important.
