Job Purpose
The Planning Officer will support the Head of Office in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with all planning, coordinating, and programming initiatives. This role is crucial for the effective implementation of MONUSCO's mandate at the field office level, contributing to integrated coordination structures. The officer will assist in developing and implementing work plans, quick impact projects, and community violence reduction initiatives. Responsibilities include attending meetings, drafting documents, conducting research, and providing recommendations on planning tools, all while ensuring alignment with mission objectives and best practices in a non-family duty station.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office, the Planning Officer will provide comprehensive support for planning, coordination, and programming. Key duties include assisting in the coordination of sections and components for mandate implementation at the field level, and supporting integrated field coordination structures. The role involves accompanying the Head of Office to meetings, preparing minutes and action points, and coordinating mission transition and disengagement activities. The officer will act as Secretariat for the Provincial Integrated Transition Team, contribute to field office work plans, and support the development of quick impact and community violence reduction projects. Additional responsibilities include drafting budget-related documents, compiling mission documents, attending various meetings, conducting research, and recommending improvements to planning tools and mechanisms.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. This includes demonstrated analytical abilities, report writing, and project management skills. Proficiency in computer use and strong writing and drafting skills in both English and French are essential. Possession of a driving license for light vehicles is also required.
