Movement Strategy Development
Organizational Context
The Community Centre for Integrated Development (CCID) in Cameroon is dedicated to advancing the rights of communities, women, girls, and young people. It focuses on strengthening community leaders and organizations to address the needs of indigenous populations. CCID aims to foster resilient communities capable of promoting women's and girls' empowerment, health, education, and human rights, recognizing their essential role in social, environmental, and economic growth.
Job Purpose
This role supports the development of the Freedom to Decide Movement's (FDM) founding strategy and implementation plan. The assignment involves refining a coherent, member-owned strategy document (2027-2029), a practical implementation plan with realistic phasing, and a monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework. The output will be suitable for member ratification, donor presentations, and day-to-day management, underpinning FDM's applications to SRHR funders and ensuring its resilience and domestic accountability in a conflict-affected region.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will contribute to developing the Freedom to Decide Movement's founding strategic architecture. Key tasks include supporting the creation of a clear, readable Movement Strategy 2027-2029, detailing situation analysis, theory of change, objectives, workstreams, phasing, and governance. This involves developing an implementation plan with realistic milestones and phase gates, accounting for security conditions and including low-visibility alternatives. Additionally, the volunteer will create short derivative strategy summaries for members and donors. For the MEL focus, responsibilities include developing a results framework with key indicators, designing indicator reference sheets, and establishing an outcome harvesting approach with simple capture instruments. A quarterly reporting template for the Steering Committee and a mid-line review protocol are also required.
Work Experience
Experience or strong interest in strategic planning for civil society organizations, coalitions, networks, or social movements is required. Experience in movement building, advocacy strategy, or campaign planning is beneficial. For the MEL role, experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning for advocacy or norms-change programming is needed, including designing indicators and results frameworks. Experience in conflict-affected or low-resource settings is advantageous. Sensitivity to issues affecting marginalized communities and commitment to rights-based approaches are essential.
Skills
Strong writing, research, and analytical skills are crucial. Proficiency in written English is required. Attention to detail, ability to work remotely and independently, openness to feedback, and adherence to deadlines are necessary. Sensitivity to issues affecting women, girls, young people, and marginalized communities, along with a commitment to rights-based and non-discriminatory approaches, is vital. Experience with feminist or youth-led organizations, SRHR, gender justice, or coalitions is an advantage. French language skills are a plus.
