Job Purpose
The Communications Officer (Digital & Multimedia) will support UNICEF's Communication Section in the Pacific, working under the direct supervision of the Digital Communication Officer. The role involves assisting in the planning, production, and dissemination of digital communication products and multimedia content across various platforms to support UNICEF's advocacy priorities and programmatic work. This includes creating engaging content for the UNICEF Pacific website, social media, and promotional campaigns, ensuring donor visibility, and amplifying messages through influencers. The position aims to enhance UNICEF's public awareness, mobilize political will for children's rights, and create spaces for youth engagement.
Responsibilities
The Communications Officer (Digital & Multimedia) will be responsible for assisting in digital communication planning, publishing, and channel support, including producing and publishing digital content for UNICEF's website, digital platforms, and social media. This involves supporting donor visibility content, maintaining influencer lists, and engaging youth online. The role also includes multimedia storytelling and production, creating engaging reels, short videos, photo stories, graphics, and presentation assets from existing materials. The officer will photograph and video events, identify and develop story ideas with program teams, and manage the content workflow from concept to dissemination, ensuring adherence to UNICEF's brand and safeguarding standards. Additionally, the position requires digital analytics, monitoring, and learning, including preparing performance updates, identifying content trends, and monitoring public perception to flag risks and recommend actions.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of relevant professional experience in digital communications, including social media management. Essential skills include multimedia editing using relevant software, photography/videography, strong writing and proofreading abilities, excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects, and knowledge of social media best practices and digital analytics. Experience with content management systems, UN/NGO work, and proficiency in spreadsheet software are desirable.
