Grant Development Specialist: Empowering Women and Children in Cameroon

Organizational Context

Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) is a non-profit organization in Cameroon, founded in 2007 and holding UN ECOSOC consultative status. Operating in the North West Region, GMM focuses on eradicating rural poverty, empowering women through skills training and financial literacy, enhancing child education, and fostering local leadership. The organization faces increased demand for its services due to the socio-political crisis affecting women and children, exceeding its current financial resources.

Job Purpose

This role supports Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) in its resource mobilization efforts to address the growing needs of vulnerable communities in Cameroon, particularly women and children impacted by the ongoing crisis. The Online Volunteer will leverage their expertise in grant development and fundraising to identify funding opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals and concept notes, and complete donor applications. This 12-week assignment aims to strengthen GMM's capacity to secure sustainable funding, enabling the expansion of programs focused on economic empowerment for women, improved educational access for children, and overall community well-being, thereby contributing to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals.

Responsibilities

Identify and research potential funding sources, including international foundations, corporate donors, and bilateral grants. Develop high-quality, persuasive grant proposals and concept notes tailored to GMM's programs for women's economic empowerment and child education. Accurately complete grant application forms, adhering strictly to donor guidelines and requirements. Collaborate effectively online with the GMM leadership team to ensure proposals align with community needs, organizational priorities, and measurable development outcomes. Contribute to strengthening the organization's overall resource mobilization capacity and sustainability.

Work Experience

A proven track record of successful grant applications or concept note development is required. Experience in identifying funding sources and writing compelling proposals tailored to specific program areas is essential.

Skills

Exceptional professional writing and editing skills in English. Strong research skills for identifying funding opportunities and donor databases. Understanding of gender equality and inclusive education frameworks. Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines. Working knowledge of English is desirable.
