The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) was established in 2011 to stabilize the Abyei Area, a territory contested by Sudan and South Sudan. Job Purpose
The UNV Supply Assistant will support operations within the Supply Chain Management Section at UNISFA, reporting to the Chief Centralized Warehouse. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and secure management of equipment and materials within the mission. The incumbent will be responsible for processing requests, preparing inventory for delivery, and maintaining accurate records in the UN's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The position requires adherence to standard operating procedures for receiving, storing, and issuing assets, contributing to the overall operational effectiveness and logistical support of the mission in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will manage warehouse operations under the supervision of the Chief Centralized Warehouse. Key duties include receiving and processing requests for equipment and materials, preparing pick lists, and issuing vouchers. The role involves preparing inventory for delivery, ensuring timely distribution to beneficiaries, and maintaining accurate stock levels. The incumbent must adhere to proper procedures for receiving, storing, and issuing assets, recording all transactions in the UN ERP system (UMOJA) and performing material movements using accurate T-Codes. Responsibilities also include ensuring the safety and security of warehouse materials, promoting Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and supporting the identification of stock levels. The role requires preparing various warehouse activity reports, expediting requisitions for purchases, and liaising with the Receiving and Inspection Unit for collaborative physical inspections. The incumbent will ensure assets are classified according to UN policy, coordinate with technical sections and end-users for asset management, and manage redeployment of assets. Additionally, the role involves directing workload priorities, formulating resource allocations, monitoring progress, and maintaining auditable records for property control and accountability.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of overall experience is required, with 5 years of relevant experience in warehousing and inventory management, particularly in retail logistics or other supply chain components. Experience with UN ERP systems like UMOJA or SAP Warehouse module is advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office and other IT applications is essential. A valid driver's license for manual gear 4x4 vehicles is required; forklift operation experience is a plus.
