Organizational Context
The UN Human Rights office in Moldova supports the UN Country Team, government bodies, judiciary, parliament, national human rights institutions, and civil society. It provides technical advice and capacity building to protect and promote human rights. The office is currently implementing an EU-funded project to strengthen minority rights, which includes raising public awareness on equality, non-discrimination, and human rights principles through visual materials.
Job Purpose
This role seeks Online Volunteers to create digital illustrations for the UN Human Rights Moldova project 'Strengthening the rights of minorities in the Republic of Moldova.' The illustrations will visually represent equality, social cohesion, and the challenges of discrimination faced by various groups in Moldova. These visuals will be used to raise public awareness during exhibitions, educational events, and on branded products, contributing to the project's goal of promoting human rights and non-discrimination principles. The aim is to effectively highlight societal issues and human rights concepts through engaging visual art.
Responsibilities
Develop up to three unique digital illustrations per volunteer, without the use of AI, depicting equality and social cohesion. Additionally, create up to three unique illustrations per volunteer, also without AI, that counter discrimination faced by various groups in Moldova across areas like employment, education, and access to public services. All illustrations must be original and will become the property of UN Human Rights. The office will use these visuals for educational and informational purposes, ensuring mandatory attribution to the authors. Volunteers will work under the guidance of a Human Rights Officer.
Work Experience
Proven experience in visual arts and graphic design is required, including the creation of visually appealing digital content and imagery. Candidates must provide a portfolio link. Experience in coordinating or liaising with multiple stakeholders in a remote setting is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in graphic design tools is essential. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented, and remote environment is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate strong visual art and graphic design capabilities through their portfolio. Working knowledge of English is also required.
