Support the Organization of the World Clean Up Day - « Mate Swell » Movement

Organizational Context

The "Mate Swell" youth movement, in partnership with the International Center for Training in Human Rights and Sustainable Development (C.I.F.D.H/D.D), is joining the global World Clean Up Day initiative. This collaboration aims to combat environmental degradation and promote sustainable development through community-led action. The movement empowers young people to lead environmental efforts, fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious leaders and strengthening community resilience and civic engagement.

Job Purpose

This role supports the organization and execution of the World Clean Up Day - « Mate Swell » event on September 19, 2026. Volunteers will be instrumental in mobilizing their communities, organizing logistics, promoting the event, and ensuring its successful execution. The assignment contributes to the global effort to combat waste pollution, protect ecosystems, and raise public awareness about environmental issues. It offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in event management, community organizing, and environmental advocacy, while fostering a sense of collective responsibility and contributing to a healthier planet.

Responsibilities

Volunteers will be responsible for recruiting at least 20 participants from their community, organizing pre-event meetings, and ensuring diverse participation. They will identify and secure cleaning sites in collaboration with local authorities, arrange for necessary equipment, and coordinate waste collection services. Responsibilities also include developing and disseminating promotional materials, engaging local media, and creating social media content to maximize event visibility. During the event, volunteers will lead cleanup activities, ensuring safety and adherence to environmental guidelines, and documenting the event through photos and videos. Post-event, they will submit a comprehensive report detailing participant numbers, waste collected, media coverage, and recommendations for future actions.

Work Experience

Candidates should have proven experience in community organizing or event management, ideally within environmental or social initiatives. Previous experience in organizing community cleanups, environmental campaigns, working with NGOs or local authorities, documenting events, or collaborating with media outlets is desirable. The ability to work independently and in multicultural teams is also important.

Skills

Key skills include strong leadership and teamwork, with the ability to mobilize and inspire others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with fluency in French and a desirable level of English. Familiarity with social media platforms and digital promotion tools is required. Knowledge of environmental issues, particularly waste management and pollution reduction, is necessary. Volunteers must also demonstrate the ability to work independently and in multicultural teams, and a commitment to the values of Love, Defense, and Development.
