The organization implements a large program portfolio across multiple field offices, requiring strengthened risk management and compliance oversight to ensure efficient and transparent resource utilization.

Job Purpose

This role supports UNICEF Pakistan's Risk & Compliance Section by strengthening risk management, compliance oversight, and verification mechanisms. The UN Volunteer will contribute to ensuring efficient, transparent, and policy-compliant resource utilization across a large program portfolio. The position involves providing independent advisory and assurance support to program and operations teams, promoting a strong control environment, and supporting risk-informed decision-making. The UN Volunteer will assist in assurance, verification, and monitoring activities, collaborating closely with program sections, field offices, implementing partners, vendors, and service providers.

Responsibilities

The UN Volunteer will support program sections in strengthening vendor controls and ensuring policy compliance. Key duties include identifying programmatic, operational, and financial risks through field visits and data analysis, and proposing mitigation measures. The role involves conducting on-site and remote verifications of program activities to ensure alignment with agreements and quality standards. Responsibilities also include reviewing partner documentation for accuracy and compliance, serving as a focal point for service provider deliverables, and supporting the development of improved verification tools and SOPs. The UN Volunteer will coordinate with relevant teams for consistent oversight, review operational processes, conduct field visits to identify gaps, and facilitate training on internal controls. Follow-up on recommendations, support special verification exercises, utilize data analytics for irregularity detection, and provide general support to the Risk & Compliance team are also expected.

Work Experience

Requires at least 7 years of total experience, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in areas such as Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Vendor Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, Financial Controls, Assurance, or Cash Transfer Oversight. Experience in Compliance, Auditing, Vendor Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, and HACT Reporting is beneficial.
