Job Purpose
This role supports UNDP's Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) by producing video content for a global communications campaign leading up to COP17. The objective is to increase the visibility of country-level biodiversity finance results and present technical information in accessible formats. The videos will help engage policymakers, partners, and the public, amplifying country voices and practical experiences. Volunteers will be equipped with campaign narratives and branding guidelines, focusing on translating complex subjects into compelling visual stories to build understanding of biodiversity finance's importance.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteers will edit and produce video content for UNDP's BIOFIN global communications campaign for COP17. Key duties include editing footage, interviews, and event recordings into short, engaging social media formats (vertical, reels), adding subtitles, on-screen text, transitions, music, and basic motion graphics. Volunteers will adapt videos for various platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, BIOFIN website), ensuring adherence to UNDP and BIOFIN branding, accessibility, and editorial guidelines. They will also incorporate feedback, submit finalized files, and provide editable project files. Assignments will be distributed based on language proficiency and editing experience, with potential collaboration on multilingual versions.
Work Experience
Essential experience includes demonstrated video editing for digital/social media, proficiency in editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut), ability to create concise short-form videos, edit interviews and longer content into clear narratives, add subtitles and graphics, and understand various video formats. Desirable experience includes producing explainer videos, motion graphics, editing for international organizations, and familiarity with biodiversity or environmental communications.
Skills
Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or equivalent), strong visual judgment, attention to detail, ability to maintain branding consistency, independent work ethic, file management, and meeting deadlines. Strong written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in Spanish and/or French is required for specific positions. Desirable skills include motion graphics, familiarity with biodiversity/environmental topics, and understanding of accessibility standards.
