Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mali is developing its new Country Cooperation Programme (CCP) for 2027-2031, aligning with national priorities and the African Union's Agenda 2063. This program supports Mali's national development strategy, aiming for institutional resilience, sustainable economic transformation, social cohesion, and climate change adaptation. Strategic communication and partnership development are crucial for ensuring the program's visibility, coherence, and impact within the country's development landscape.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will support the UNDP Mali Country Office's Communication and Strategic Partnerships team in implementing the organization's results-oriented communication and partnership strategy. This role involves assisting with communication strategy execution, covering UNDP events through photography, and drafting articles and success stories on priority themes. The position also requires designing communication materials using Adobe Suite, updating a partnership management platform, and supporting digital communication efforts, including managing social media pages. Additionally, the role will contribute to organizing events and awareness activities to mobilize resources and engage stakeholders, ensuring the visibility and impact of UNDP's programs in Mali.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the unit head, the volunteer will assist the Communication and Strategic Partnerships team in implementing UNDP Mali's communication and partnership strategy. Key duties include:
- Supporting the execution of the organization's communication and partnership strategy.
- Providing photographic coverage for UNDP Mali events.
- Contributing to the writing of articles and success stories on priority themes.
- Designing web and print communication tools using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Assisting in updating a partnership management platform and monitoring partnership activities.
- Supporting the implementation of the digital communication strategy through social media management.
- Aiding in the organization of events and awareness activities for resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement.
- Performing other related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, one year of relevant experience is desirable. This includes proficiency in Adobe graphic design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), digital tools including AI, strong research and writing skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Video editing skills are a plus. Fluency in French is mandatory.

The role requires professionalism, self-management, judgment, and decision-making capabilities. Expertise in audio-visual content, communication, advocacy, public information, and digital/social media is essential.
