Campagne nationale de vulgarisation du code du numérique
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supports developing countries with advice and advocacy for grants. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, increasing digitalization makes access to and understanding of digital regulations crucial. The Digital Code is a key legal framework, but public awareness is low. A national campaign aims to bridge this gap by mobilizing 2,000 volunteers across all provinces to act as community relays for disseminating information about the Digital Code.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to increase citizen awareness and promote responsible digital culture in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The volunteer will serve as a community relay, actively contributing to the dissemination of the Digital Code's provisions. This involves educating communities on the code's content, organizing outreach sessions (both in-person and digital), and producing/distributing awareness materials. The role also includes mobilizing local stakeholders, identifying digital usage challenges, collecting activity data, and reporting on progress. The ultimate goal is to ensure a better-informed population regarding digital rights and regulations in an increasingly digitalized environment.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will be responsible for raising community awareness about the Digital Code's content and organizing outreach sessions, both in-person and digital. They will produce and disseminate awareness materials, including social media content, posters, and short videos. A key duty is translating and adapting awareness messages into local languages to ensure broad understanding. Volunteers will also mobilize youth, community leaders, and local actors around digital issues, identify challenges related to digital use in their communities, and collect data on their activities for regular reporting. Participation in training and coordination sessions is also required.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, experience in community mobilization, awareness campaigns, or volunteer work is considered an asset. Volunteers should be proficient in using basic social media and digital tools, possess good communication and teamwork skills, and have a strong understanding of their local community.
Skills
Key skills include strong communication abilities, teamwork, and a good understanding of local communities. Volunteers should demonstrate an interest in digital technology, digital citizenship, or community engagement. Proficiency in using social media and basic digital tools is essential. The ability to translate and adapt messages into local languages is also a valuable skill.
