Organizational Context

UN Women (UNW) is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women globally. In the State of Palestine, UN Women works to advance gender equality in line with national priorities, focusing on mainstreaming gender in governance, peace and security, supporting women's economic security, and promoting protection against violence. The current humanitarian crisis has severely impacted women and girls, increasing their vulnerabilities and protection risks, necessitating urgent gender-responsive interventions.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to support UN Women Palestine's critical research and data production efforts amidst a severe humanitarian crisis. The volunteer will contribute to generating evidence and knowledge on the profound impact of the conflict on women and girls in Gaza and the West Bank. This data is essential for informing gender-responsive humanitarian and recovery interventions, ensuring that the specific needs and vulnerabilities of women and girls are addressed. The role directly supports UN Women's mandate to place women's rights at the center of all efforts and translate gender equality commitments into action.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will contribute to research design and data collection concept notes. Key duties include conducting data collection through virtual surveys or interviews in English and Arabic, and supporting data analysis with a focus on gender analysis. The role also involves assisting with data visualization to present findings effectively and contributing to the writing of research reports. Each volunteer will contribute to at least one data exercise. The working methodology includes regular online meetings with the UN Women team and virtual interviews/surveys with respondents in Gaza and the West Bank.

Work Experience

Required experience includes designing and conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and data visualization. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is also required for conducting interviews and surveys.
