The Centre international de formation en droits humains et développement durable (CIFDH/DD) is developing an innovative digital health platform to address significant barriers in healthcare access for rural, remote, and underserved communities. Job Purpose
This role supports the design and development of an innovative digital health platform aimed at improving healthcare access for vulnerable, underserved, and remote populations. The platform will facilitate teleconsultations, appointment scheduling, digital referrals, health education, and home-based care coordination. It seeks to enhance continuity of care, strengthen primary healthcare, and advance Universal Health Coverage through scalable technology. The volunteer will contribute to making the platform user-friendly, inclusive, and adapted to the needs of vulnerable groups, directly supporting Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9, 10, and 17.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will contribute to the design and development of a digital health platform, working under supervision and in collaboration with healthcare professionals, UI/UX designers, and the project team. Key duties include reviewing project documentation to understand objectives and requirements, designing and developing responsive web and/or mobile application features using modern full-stack technologies, and developing/integrating secure RESTful APIs and backend services. Volunteers will also build and optimize databases and server-side infrastructure, develop intuitive user interfaces, integrate authentication and security features, participate in testing and debugging, prepare technical documentation, and deliver assigned software modules according to the development roadmap.
Work Experience
Proven experience in full-stack software development is required. Experience with modern web development frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Angular, Vue.js), backend frameworks (Node.js, Express.js, Django, etc.), relational/NoSQL databases, and REST APIs is essential. Familiarity with Git/GitHub and cloud services is an asset. Previous experience in digital health or humanitarian technology projects is a strong advantage.
Skills
Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web development frameworks. Experience with front-end and back-end development, database management, and REST API integration. Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub) and cloud services. Understanding of cybersecurity, authentication, and data protection principles. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in multicultural virtual teams. Fluency in English is required; French is desirable.
