Job Purpose
This role supports the 2026 Malawi National Youth Summit by assisting in the transparent and fair review and selection of artist performance applications. The Online Volunteer will assess submitted materials, including videos and portfolios, against predefined criteria to identify talented performers whose submissions align with the summit's objectives and values. The contribution is crucial for ensuring a high-quality selection process and showcasing diverse youth talent in music, dance, poetry, drama, and other creative expressions, ultimately contributing to the summit's success and the empowerment of young artists.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee, Online Volunteers will review artist performance applications submitted via the online platform. This includes assessing submitted materials such as videos, audio recordings, portfolios, and biographies. Volunteers will evaluate applications against established selection criteria and scoring guidelines, supporting the shortlisting of performers across various categories like musicians, dancers, poets, acrobats, cultural groups, and theatre performers. Key deliverables include completing evaluation scorecards, providing written recommendations for shortlisted candidates, contributing to a consolidated shortlist, and submitting a brief summary report of observations and recommendations.
Work Experience
Essential experience includes strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and evaluation skills, the ability to review applications objectively, good written communication in English, and the capacity to work independently and meet deadlines. Familiarity with youth engagement, arts, culture, or event programming is also essential. Desirable experience includes prior work in performing arts, reviewing applications for grants or competitions, understanding Malawi's creative sector, and experience with youth initiatives.
Skills
Key skills required are strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and evaluation abilities, objective and fair application review, good written communication in English, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Familiarity with youth engagement, arts, culture, or event programming is also necessary. Fluency in both English and Chichewa is required.
