Job Purpose
The Construction Site Manager will provide technical expertise throughout the construction lifecycle, from design to handover, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves supervising and coordinating daily construction activities, monitoring progress against work plans, and ensuring adherence to technical specifications. The incumbent will manage site operations, oversee construction teams and contractors, and report on project status, safety, and quality to project management and stakeholders. The primary goal is to ensure the smooth operation and successful implementation of construction activities in assigned locations, contributing to the delivery of essential public facilities.
Responsibilities
The Construction Site Manager will provide technical expertise on all construction phases, including design, implementation, and handover, ensuring projects meet timeline, budget, and quality objectives. Responsibilities include supervising daily construction activities, coordinating site operations, and monitoring progress against work programs. The role involves verifying that work aligns with technical specifications, promptly reporting deviations, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation such as daily/weekly reports, site monitoring reports, meeting minutes, and handover documents. The incumbent will prepare progress and safety reports, establish and update construction schedules, and immediately report on project delivery status. Quality and quantity control, time schedule consistency, and data collection for progress assessment are key duties. The manager will oversee surveying and engineering control, conduct regular meetings with the site team, and provide implementation support to supervision and construction teams. Liaising between supervision and construction companies, collecting data for progress monitoring, and ensuring smooth project operations are also critical functions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required in building construction, site supervision, or infrastructure project management. Experience in quality control, monitoring, and reporting within construction projects is essential. Proficiency in collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems is also required. Desired experience includes working in multicultural or UN system environments, development or humanitarian contexts, and project documentation/technical communication.
