The Global Policy Centre for Governance (GPCG) supports inclusive, transparent, accountable, and effective governance systems globally. It addresses development challenges rooted in governance by applying research, analysis, and learning. The Centre leverages UNDP's convening power to develop and advance practical policy alternatives and solutions, with a significant focus on SDG 16 measurement, reporting, and governance data analytics.
Job Purpose
This assignment supports the Global Policy Centre for Governance's custodianship role for selected SDG 16 indicators and its efforts to enhance national governance statistics systems. The role involves strengthening data sharing and interoperability across national governance systems. The specialist will contribute to global and country-level initiatives for measuring, reporting, and utilizing SDG 16 indicators. This includes advancing governance statistics, supporting national capacity development, contributing to global SDG 16 reporting, and participating in strategic discussions on future governance measurement frameworks, including the post-2030 development agenda.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Programme Coordinator, the Governance Data and Analytics Specialist will: - Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning initiatives focused on SDG 16 and governance statistics. - Contribute to research activities, policy development, and strategic engagement related to SDG 16. - Support capacity strengthening programs and advocacy efforts concerning SDG 16 measurement. - Develop and contribute to the creation of accessible knowledge products, such as policy briefs, data dashboards, and comprehensive reports.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in governance, gender, or justice data and analytics at the national or international level. Experience in data management, using database languages, and translating data into accessible knowledge products (dashboards, reports) is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management is expected. Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in another UN official language is desirable.
