The UNICEF Diffa office is recruiting a National UN Volunteer to strengthen its team. This role is crucial in a region facing complex humanitarian and development challenges, aiming to enhance program quality, accountability, and impact through robust monitoring and evaluation systems.

Job Purpose

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will contribute to strengthening the monitoring and evaluation systems for programs implemented in the Diffa region, thereby improving the quality, accountability, and impact of interventions. The role involves supporting performance indicator tracking, programmatic data analysis, periodic report preparation, and performance review exercises. Additionally, the officer will assist in capacity building for partners, analyzing humanitarian trends in the region, and managing information. This position is vital for ensuring effective program delivery and informed decision-making in a challenging humanitarian context.

Responsibilities

The UN Volunteer will be responsible for monitoring program performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting, while also contributing to capacity building for partners and teams on Results-Based Management (RBM). Key duties include regularly tracking program and project performance indicators, updating results frameworks and data collection tools, and verifying the quality and reliability of data. The role involves participating in field missions to document progress and challenges, consolidating information for reporting, and updating action point matrices. Data management includes compiling, cleaning, and analyzing programmatic data, producing dashboards and analytical notes, identifying performance gaps, and supporting database development. Reporting responsibilities encompass contributing to monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports, supporting data consolidation for reviews, and assisting in partner training on HACT. The role also involves supporting the development of interactive data visualization tools, monitoring humanitarian trends, producing humanitarian information products, and identifying humanitarian gaps.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation and information management is required. Proficiency in French and a good knowledge of English are essential. Experience with IT tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary. Experience in the humanitarian or development sector is desirable, as are strong knowledge of database management principles and GIS tools.
