Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Eswatini facilitates comprehensive UN support through the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CF) 2026-2030. This framework guides joint efforts between the UN and the Government of Eswatini to advance sustainable development, focusing on inclusive social well-being and shared prosperity. The UN Country Team (UNCT), led by the Resident Coordinator, collaborates with government, civil society, and development partners to implement this agenda.
Job Purpose
The Coordination Associate will support the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Eswatini to enhance inter-agency coherence, joint planning, resource mobilization, and reporting. This role is crucial for the effective operationalization of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CF) 2026-2030. The Associate will contribute to strengthening the UN Country Team's (UNCT) ability to deliver integrated support aligned with national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The position aims to foster collaboration among UN agencies and with national stakeholders to achieve impactful development outcomes.
Responsibilities
The Coordination Associate will provide essential support to the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) under the supervision of the RCO Team Leader. Key responsibilities include facilitating stakeholder coordination by maintaining relationships with UN agencies, technical focal points, and government counterparts to ensure a coherent response. The Associate will offer administrative and substantive support to UN Results Groups Chairs, assisting with organization, agenda setting, and meeting execution. They will also support UN Governance structures in managing annual plans, monitoring joint frameworks, and tracking action points from UNCT meetings. Furthermore, the role involves representing the RCO at technical coordination meetings and ensuring follow-up actions. The Associate will contribute to knowledge management and communications by drafting briefing papers and advocacy materials, and will undertake ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Head of Office.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required, though a demonstrated interest or experience in coordination is beneficial. Previous volunteer experience, cross-cultural exposure (through studies, volunteer work, or internships), strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills, and proficiency in standard computer applications and digital tools are highly regarded.
