Monitoring and Reporting Associate

Job Purpose
The Monitoring and Reporting Associate will play a key role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making within UN Women's programmes in Nigeria. The assignment involves tracking programme performance, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders. This includes supporting results-based management, documenting progress against strategic objectives, and ensuring alignment with corporate reporting standards. The role also contributes to strengthening knowledge management systems and disseminating lessons learned and best practices to enhance programme effectiveness and impact.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide technical inputs to programme formulation, ensuring monitoring and reporting are integrated. This includes developing monitoring indicators, calendars, and field plans, and incorporating evaluation findings. The role involves supporting partners in developing Performance Monitoring Frameworks and facilitating agreement clearances. The Associate will monitor and track results against targets, coordinate data collection and analysis, and contribute to management briefs and programme monitoring. They will also monitor fund spending and contribute to the country office's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Plan. Furthermore, the volunteer will facilitate reporting to internal and external audiences, contributing to donor and programme reports, and reviewing partner progress reports. Technical support will be provided for the implementation of the UN Women Evaluation Policy, including coordinating evaluations and managing responses. Finally, the role involves contributing to knowledge building and capacity building by identifying and disseminating good practices and developing training materials.
Work Experience
While no prior experience is strictly required, experience in monitoring and reporting of development projects/programmes is desirable. Proficiency in computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel), spreadsheet and database packages, and web-based management systems is essential. Previous volunteer experience or experience in a different cultural context is highly regarded.
Skills
Key skills include good knowledge of programme formulation, implementation, and Results-Based Management; expertise in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, analysis, and reporting; ability to synthesize program performance data and produce analytical reports; and strong analytical and report writing skills. Competencies such as accountability, adaptability, communication, integrity, planning, and professionalism are also important.
