Job Purpose

The Public Health Associate Officer will support the WHO Kuwait technical programme lead in ongoing public health projects, with a specific focus on the WHO EMRO Regional flagship initiative addressing substance use. This role involves providing technical assistance and disseminating public health information on primary healthcare, universal health coverage, antimicrobial resistance, health workforce, emergency preparedness, and non-communicable diseases. The assignment aims to bring diverse talent into UN programs, offering hands-on experience with leading UN partners and contributing to global volunteering diversity.

Responsibilities

The UN Volunteer will attend and actively participate in technical meetings, taking notes and assisting with coordination. Responsibilities include supporting health systems and promotion activities, reviewing documents, and participating in discussions on non-communicable diseases, substance use, social determinants of health, antimicrobial resistance, and emergency response. The role involves coordinating with national counterparts, UN agencies, and stakeholders, and assisting in developing knowledge products like presentations and reports. Additionally, the volunteer will conduct research, support technical assistance coordination, monitor implementation progress, compile reports, and assist in preparing planning documents and advocacy materials.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required, specifically in the coordination, planning, implementation, monitoring, or evaluation of health programs. Desirable experience includes analyzing and drafting technical health-related documents and reports. The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
