Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment, part of a UNV-funded initiative for diverse talent from underrepresented nationalities, offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience with UN partners. The role will significantly bolster UN Women Sudan's efforts to promote women's leadership in peacebuilding, addressing the high demand for field-level support in a challenging conflict context. The Associate will provide crucial programmatic and administrative support to expand initiatives promoting women's leadership in peacebuilding systematically and scalably. This involves close collaboration with programme teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of activities aligned with strategic goals and donor projects, contributing to monitoring, reporting, and overall programme coherence.
Responsibilities
The Women, Peace and Security Associate will provide programmatic support for the formulation and management of programmes, including assisting with work plans, budgets, proposals, and implementation arrangements. This involves drafting Terms of Reference, monitoring tracking tools, and assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports. The role also supports the organization of trainings for stakeholders and partners, prepares information for audits, and monitors procedures for agreements with implementing partners. Additionally, the Associate will support financial management by tracking resource utilization, following up on partner reporting, assisting with fund transfers, creating projects in PRISM, and monitoring budgets. Administrative support includes managing logistics for events and missions, preparing materials, processing payments, and handling correspondence. Support for resource mobilization involves preparing agreements and following up on efforts. Finally, the Associate will facilitate knowledge building and sharing by contributing to lessons learned, supporting training organization, gathering data for documents, and maintaining programme documentation archives.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required, including supporting programme implementation and coordination. Experience in women's empowerment, peacebuilding, governance, mediation, leadership training, or programme coordination is essential. Experience organizing trainings, workshops, or community engagement activities is also necessary. Desirable experience includes working with UN agencies or NGOs, monitoring and reporting, knowledge of the Sudan context, and experience with women-led organizations. Familiarity with Women, Peace and Security (WPS) programming is advantageous.
