Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequalities, and building resilience. Following recent earthquakes in Venezuela, UNDP is providing technical assistance, damage assessments, coordination, and communication support for recovery efforts. This role is crucial for systematically monitoring media coverage of UNDP's response, informing communication analysis, identifying trends, and supporting decision-making.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNDP's response to recent earthquakes in Venezuela by systematically monitoring and systematizing media coverage of the organization's institutional response. The collected information will enhance communication analysis, identify trends, document institutional visibility, and aid the Communications team's decision-making. Online Volunteers will contribute to building a consolidated database of Spanish-language media publications related to UNDP's earthquake response, serving as a vital input for analysis and institutional reporting. The ultimate output will be an organized database with relevant metadata, integrated with contributions from other volunteers for comprehensive monitoring.
Responsibilities
Support the UNDP Venezuela Communications Unit by monitoring and systematizing Spanish-language media publications related to the organization's response to recent earthquakes. Key tasks include: daily monitoring of national and international Spanish-language media for news, reports, interviews, and opinion pieces concerning UNDP and its emergency response; identifying mentions of UNDP and its recovery actions; recording each publication in a provided matrix with details like date, source, link, summary, and content classification; verifying the quality and consistency of collected information; and promptly reporting high-relevance publications requiring immediate attention. This role involves collaborative work with other volunteers monitoring social media and other media channels.
Work Experience
Demonstrated ability to conduct efficient internet searches. Experience in information analysis and synthesis is beneficial. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data recording is required. Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines is essential. Interest in institutional communication, sustainable development, humanitarian action, or disaster risk management is desirable.
Skills
Strong internet search capabilities, analytical and synthesis skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, good written Spanish, basic proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets), collaborative work ability, and timely delivery. An interest in institutional communication, sustainable development, humanitarian action, or disaster risk management is valued.
