The Finance Assistant provides effective support to the office's financial management, ensuring operations are reliable, accurate, and compliant with regulations.
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Finance Assistant will provide effective support to the office's financial management. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and compliance of all financial operations with UN Women's rules and policies. The incumbent will contribute to the improvement of internal control mechanisms, assist in the preparation and monitoring of work plans, and support budget preparation and tracking. The position also involves managing treasury functions, including daily financial transaction recording and advance expense verification, as well as contributing to cost recovery systems and invoice processing.
Responsibilities
Support operational strategies by ensuring adherence to financial procedures and policies, contributing to internal control improvements, and assisting in work plan and budget preparation and monitoring. Manage accounting and financial operations by preparing and verifying supporting documents, controlling payment requests, ensuring rigorous recording of financial transactions, producing financial reports, and maintaining an effective document filing system. Oversee treasury functions by maintaining daily financial transaction records and verifying advance expenses. Contribute to cost recovery by assisting in the implementation and updating of the cost recovery system and invoice establishment. Participate in knowledge sharing within the team to enhance overall financial management effectiveness and transparency.
Work Experience
Requires 1 month of experience, with 1 year of relevant experience preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Finance and Accounting is needed. Proficiency in using computers and management software, including MS Word and Excel, is also required.
